A very nice deliberately derivative piece:

Very cool.

That’s pretty astounding. It drives home the theatrical nature of Picasso’s setting: it was a stage set, beyond which there is no reality, unlike, say, a Dutch landscape, where the camera might have kept going into the fields and distant woods.

I don’t know if anyone else is having problems with the link, but here it is on youtube:

Very powerful. Made me think of a lot of the elements of the piece in a whole new way. And yet…
I can never see anything about Guernica without thinking about the scene from “The Critic” where Franklin (Jay’s crazy dad) drives a monster truck through the painting, yelling, “Take that, Guernica!” You kinda have to see it, it’s really funny in context.

Thank you!

By the way, Eli meet the Lichtenbergians. Lichtenbergians, Eli. Eli is a great friend of mine, and I nominate him as a member.
Great guy. Great writer. And a true Lichtenbergian. True to fashion, I have been meaning to nominate Eli as a member for a while, but just have not gotten around to it.

Well, that’s in the true spirit of the thing. This nomination is off to a great start. We’ll let another couple of months go by and then I’ll consider seconding the motion. If I don’t forget by then.
