What interests me as a Lichtenbergian is not only his puckish sense of humor, but the compulsion to create a really good-looking sign for his protest. It shows how creative people cannot help themselves. It also shows an understanding of public discourse of which his poor fellow demonstrators are completely unaware. Thus it ever is.

His Prince story is pretty great, as well. Criticize the man’s films all you want (I won’t), but he knows how to tell a story.
